• Interstate 69 Route Projects & Planning - Texarkana to Lufkin

BOWIE COUNTY

>> Preliminary alignment planning is underway on the I-69 Texarkana West Loop. The relief route would connect to Interstate 30 at a point near the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant site, now known as TexAmericas Center. It would run south to connect to the existing US 59 route at a point northeast of Wright Patman Lake. This project is considered a priority by the Segment One Committee.

>> Construction of intersection improvements at US 59 and FM 989 on the southwest side of Texarkana. Funded for construction in 2014.

CASS & MARION COUNTIES

>> Work is now complete on 13 miles of US 59 from Linden to Jefferson, expanding the highway from two lanes to four lane divided.

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY

>> The Segment One Committee has identified a relief route on the west side of Nacogdoches as a priority. Alignment options have been developed. Currently unfunded.

>> TxDOT has identified the needed roadway reconstruction of 6.75 miles of US 59 from the southern edge of the City of Nacogdoches to the Angelina River Bridge. Currently unfunded.

ANGELINA COUNTY

>> Replacement of a Union Pacific railroad bridge which crosses over US 59 at a diagonal about a mile north of Loop 287. The bridge has minimum horizontal clearance. The total length of the highway reconstruction is .8 of a mile with an estimated cost of $60 million. Engineering was underway in 2011 and the project is funded for bidding in 2012.

>> The Segment Two Committee has identified a relief route on the east side of Lufkin and Diboll as a priority. Alignment options have been developed. Currently unfunded.
